The Mobile News Awards has earned its reputation as the most prestigious mobile telecoms awards due to the quality of the judging panel. Entries are judged by senior adjudicators who are independent of Mobile News in their decisions. This year's judging panel is one of the most experts we've had in years. All our judges have accumulated many years of experience across all sectors of the mobile channel - networks, distribution, accessories, MVNOs, vendors, airtime provision, unified comms, online retailing, customer service and running telco businesses.
Richard Baxendale - a board-level executive with a track record across the mobile space. Most recently he was Chief Commercial Officer (Europe) for Likewize. This was followed by top positions as AO's managing director mobile, CEO of mobilephonesdirect, Tech Data as VP of Services, and business development director of Brightstar.
Ben Dowd - former CEO of independent business comms specialist Onecom and was a board Director for Telefonica O2 UK for 10 years. He has more than 25 years of industry experience spanning finance, commercial, sales, B2B and general management (P&L)
Andy Coughlin - a key account manager at the international insurance exchange Boltech, He spent many years in the mobile channel including eight years as LG's head of mobile preceded by seven years at Samsung and a stint as a spot buyer at Carphone Warehouse.
John Forde - has run Peterborough unified comms reseller Airphone Telecoms Solutions since the early 1990's offering business mobile and fixed comms. He has been involved with mobile comms since the mobile revolution started in 1985 as a service provider manager with Cellnet (which became BT Cellnet and then O2)
Paul Harrison - worked for Sky News for 22 years where his news gathering jobs took him all over the world including conflict zones such as Afghanistan, the Middle East and Balkans., He made the switch to Huawei Technologies as a senior communications director. After a short spell as Head of international media, he was promoted to UK director of communications.
Ed Hemburrow - worked in the mobile industry for over 22 years. He is currently the COO of EIP a provider of software solutions for device insurance programs. Before EIP he worked at Carphone Warehouse and O2. At Carphone Warehouse he managed the UK insurance program and at O2, he managed the first insurance product for the iPhone in 2007.
Simon Johnson - has worked in the UK mobile market for 20 years covering distribution (Exertis), manufacturing (Huawei). He is currently Buying Manager for Tesco Mobile, working across all the major brands covering various categories.
Andrew Kidd - ex-sales manager for Xiaomi-branded devices and handled Xiaomi's sales development for Vodafone, O2, EE, Three) Amazon and distributor channels. He also spent many years at Sony Mobile in sales and marketing roles including global sales operations manager and has done stints at Samsung and Philips.
Carl Lewis - director of Mobility at TES – IT Lifecycle Solutions. He is an ex-international sales director of Exertis and a former Carphone Warehouse head of distribution and partners. He set up Banana Recruitment in 2006 as the recruitment specialist serving the mobile channel.
Bav Majithia- co-founder of Genuine Solutions and has been in the accessories and equipment sector for more than 20 years. He is currently an investor in start-ups including car modification business Yiannenize.
Joanna Orphenou has worked at O2 Telefonica, EE and Microsoft in top channel partner marketing roles. She is currently industry campaign manager at Salesforce and has also run her own agency specialising in branding, marketing communications, content and visuals creation, strategic marketing consultancy and hospitality and events management.
Phil Sheppard - at Three for nearly 20 years including as director of strategy and architecture. He is a technology and people leader who has a wealth of experience of end to end telecoms. He is an advisor to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)
Andy Tow - after many years in the UK mobile channel, Andy now runs his own business consultancy focussing on sales, growth strategy, business development and marketing for small and medium-sized Enterprises. He has held senior roles in all areas of the channel at the network level (Vodafone).ibution (European Telecom) and airtime provisioning (Avenir).
